After being sent in to bat, Welsh Fire found it difficult to gain momentum against a disciplined bowling attack from Rockets.

Captain Phil Salt fell early for 5, while Joe Root managed only 5 as the Fire slipped to 26/2. Matthew Short steadied the innings with a composed 36 off 26 balls, hitting one four and two sixes.
