South Africa Women produced a clinical run chase to defeat India Women by 6 wickets in the 18th Match of Group 1 at the Women's T20 World Cup 2026 in Manchester. A sensational unbeaten 81 from Marizanne Kapp guided South Africa to victory with five balls to spare.
After being asked to bat first , India Women got off to a brisk start. Opener Shafali Verma played an explosive knock of 31 runs from just 15 balls, smashing four boundaries and a six at a strike rate of over 206. Smriti Mandhana contributed 17 runs before falling to Marizanne Kapp.
Despite losing wickets at regular intervals, India maintained momentum through useful contributions from the middle order. Captain Harmanpreet Kaur scored 24 runs, while Deepti Sharma anchored the innings with a valuable 29 off 21 deliveries. Wicketkeeper Richa Ghosh added 15 runs late in the innings.
India finished on 158/7 in 20 overs, setting South Africa a target of 159.

Chasing 159, South Africa suffered an early setback when captain Laura Wolvaardt was dismissed for just 20. Debutant spinner Shree Charani created further pressure by removing Dangerous Annerie Dercksen for a duck.
However, Tazmin Brits steadied the innings with a composed 40 off 36 balls before finding an able partner in Marizanne Kapp. The experienced all-rounder completely shifted the momentum with a breathtaking innings.
Kapp smashed 81 not out from just 45 balls, striking seven fours and four sixes. Her aggressive strokeplay dismantled the Indian bowling attack and ensured South Africa remained ahead of the required run rate.
After Brits departed, Kapp continued her assault alongside All-rounder Chloe Tryon, who contributed a quickfire unbeaten 10 off 4 balls. South Africa reached 161/4 in 19.1 overs, sealing an important victory in Group 1.
