Successive victory for SRH against CSK at Chepauk after losing five consecutive games against them in Chennai since 2013. \n \nThis is the first time SRH has achieved the double over CSK in an IPL season.
Ruturaj Gaikwad | CSK captain: Was a good game of cricket. Was a good T20 pitch, didn't change much. Just missed out on few, but still proud of the boys. Just needed to cash in on the opportunity after the opposition lost a wicket, couldn't do that. Lot of positives to be honest. Samson has been playing really well for us. Missed out on a few key players. It depends on a lot of factors. Everyone gave their heart out today, proud of the boys. The fans support us through the thick and thin. We were much better this year compared to the last year.
23:37 Local Time, 18:07 GMT: That was a well-paced chase from Sunrisers Hyderabad. This was not a typical surface which their batters enjoy but a sluggish one where they were made to work hard. Head went early but Abhishek and Ishan Kishan gave them a steady start. Abhishek's dismissal brought Klaasen to the middle and he played a game-changing knock. The wicket was slow and CSK two spinners - Akeal and Noor - where just starting to put the squeeze, but Klaasen's knock in the middle overs forced CSK to change plans and the 75-run stand for the third wicket but SRH in the driver's seat.
Anshul Kamboj to Smaran Ravichandran, FOUR, SRH win by 5 wickets. They along with GT have qualified for the playoffs. The people in Chepauk are stunned. Some just sit there in disbelief. Coming to the ball: Full toss outside off, Smaran backs away and opens the bat face, slices it over backward point and seals the victory
Anshul Kamboj to Salil Arora, 1 run, yorker close to off, Arora digs it to long-on and settles with a single
Anshul Kamboj to Smaran Ravichandran, 1 run, short of length delivery, Smaran pulls along the ground backward of square, just a single
Smaran Ravichandran, left handed bat, comes to the crease
Anshul Kamboj to Ishan Kishan, out Caught by Urvil Patel!! Kishan won't be there to see this through. But a fine knock comes to an end. He has a word with Arora as he walks off. Just telling him to get the job done. Full and outside off, Kishan had to reach for it and hence does not quite middle the loft, toe-ends it towards long-off and Urvil picks up his second catch of the game. Ishan Kishan c Urvil Patel b Anshul Kamboj 70(47) [4s-7 6s-3]
Anshul Kamboj to Ishan Kishan, THATS OUT!! Caught!!
Anshul Kamboj to Salil Arora, 1 run, full pitcher around off, Arora slams it down the ground to long-off. SRH are one hit away..
Anshul Kamboj to Salil Arora, SIX, that's massive. Arora with a killer blow. Kamboj comes round the wicket and misses the yorker length, right in the slot and Arora does not miss out. He clears his front leg and heaves it over deep mid-wicket
Chepauk has gone silent. There were a lot of tense faces and there was some noise. But those two strikes from Kishan has silenced them. Can Kamboj get them going again?
Chepauk has gone silent.
Mukesh Choudhary to Ishan Kishan, SIX, that might be the final nail in the coffin. 10 off the last 2 balls and that has ruined the over. Short of length delivery and sits up nicely on this slow surface, Kishan transfers his weight back and nails the pull into the deep square leg
Back over the wicket
Mukesh Choudhary to Ishan Kishan, FOUR, that takes the pressure off SRH. The plan is to bowl outside off to Kishan and make him reach for it. He reads the play and moves across to flat-bat it past Arora. Almost took Arora out with that smashing shot
Mukesh Choudhary to Salil Arora, 1 run, just short of Dube. Slower ball angled across, Arora stands tall and punches it to extra cover. It was in the air but luckily for Arora it does not carry to Dube
Mukesh Choudhary to Ishan Kishan, 1 run, full and outside off, Kishan slaps the drive straight to deep extra cover
Goes round the wicket
Mukesh Choudhary to Salil Arora, 1 run, 134.6ks back of a length around off, Arora knocks it to sweeper cover
Mukesh Choudhary to Salil Arora, wide, almost repeat of the previous delivery. Arora has no chance of reaching that and Samson dives to his right to glove it
Mukesh Choudhary to Salil Arora, wide, full and slanted outside off, Arora leaves and umpire signals a wide
Salil Arora, right handed bat, comes to the crease
Mukesh Choudhary to Nitish Reddy, out Caught by Urvil Patel!! And he strikes first ball! CSK hanging in there. Nitish will be kicking himself. 133.2ks full delivery, right in the slot and the idea was right from Nitish to go down the ground, he gets it off the toe-end though and offers a simple catch to long-off. Urvil moves to his right and takes it safely. Nitish Reddy c Urvil Patel b Mukesh Choudhary 11(7) [4s-1]
Mukesh Choudhary to Nitish Reddy, THATS OUT!! Caught!!
Equation - 28 off 18. Mukesh comes back to bowl his final over.
Mukesh Choudhary [3.0-0-21-1] is back into the attack
Anshul Kamboj to Ishan Kishan, no run, full toss outside off, Kishan reaches and toe-ends it fine. Luckily for Kamboj the fielder at short third was placed fine and the ball goes straight to him
Anshul Kamboj to Ishan Kishan, FOUR, "Kishan shouldn't have been on strike that ball," says Aaron Finch on air. And he's right. These are the small margins that they talk about in T20 cricket. Low full toss from Kamboj and Kishan manages to get under, lofts it wide of long-on and almost sends it all the way
Anshul Kamboj to Nitish Reddy, 3 runs, this is what CSK can't afford. Full toss angled across, Nitish slices it over extra cover and manages to evade a backtracking Gaikwad. Brevis from sweeper sends in a throw to Kamboj and he does not collect it cleanly, conceding the extra run
Anshul Kamboj to Ishan Kishan, 1 run, 134.7ks very full delivery, Kishan squeezes it to mid-on and sets off. Gaikwad swoops down and has a shy at the striker's end. Not on target and Nitish gets in easily
Anshul Kamboj to Nitish Reddy, 1 run, nails the yorker around off, Nitish digs it towards mid-wicket and crosses over
Anshul Kamboj to Ishan Kishan, 1 run, brilliant work by Noor. He's saved five runs for the team. Full delivery on the pads, Kishan flicks it towards deep square leg and the ball seemed to be sailing over. Noor jumps up and takes the catch but lets the ball go as he falls beyond the rope
Timeout! Equation - 38 from 24. It is SRH's game to lose. They have 7 wickets in hand and there's a well-set batter in the middle. CSK are not giving up. They are fired up as witnessed with the Samson-Klaasen confrontation. But can they pull off an improbable win? Kamboj has two overs, while Mukesh and Johnson have one each. Will Gaikwad risk bowling Akeal for one more over?
Akeal Hosein to Ishan Kishan, 1 run, 91.4ks flatter and fraction short, Kishan mistimes the pull to long-on. Just lands short of incoming Veer
Akeal Hosein to Ishan Kishan, 2 runs, once again watches Kishan walk across and darts it outside off, Kishan still manages to slap it wide of long-off. Urvil runs to his right and dives full length to make the stop, saved two
Akeal Hosein to Nitish Reddy, 1 run, drifting in with the angle, Nitish works it to deep square leg
Akeal Hosein to Nitish Reddy, wide, moves away and Akeal tries to follow him, fired down leg and an excellent take by Samson
Klaasen vs Noor in T20s \nInnings: 6 \nRuns: 90 \nBalls: 42 \nDismissals: 2 \nSR: 214.3 \n4s/6s: 9/6
Akeal Hosein to Ishan Kishan, 1 run, fifty for Kishan. Not one of his fluent knocks but he holds the key. He was happy to play second fiddle to Klaasen and now has to see this through. Fraction short and drifting across, Kishan pulls and picks out Brevis near deep mid-wicket, goes on the bounce
Akeal Hosein to Ishan Kishan, no run, spotted Kishan shuffle across and fired it outside off, driven straight to extra cover
Akeal Hosein to Ishan Kishan, no run, sliding across the left-hander, Kishan has a big swing of the bat and does not connect
Akeal Hosein [2.0-0-15-1] is back into the attack
Noor Ahmad to Nitish Reddy, no run, shortens the length on the googly, Nitish defends it to the off-side
Noor Ahmad to Nitish Reddy, FOUR, lovely shot! He just taken the pressure off with these two beautiful shots. Tossed up but the length is fuller, Nitish presses forward and caresses the drive in front of square. The timing beats the sweeper in the deep
Noor Ahmad to Nitish Reddy, 2 runs, flighted around off, Nitish leans forward and drives wide of long-off, easy couple
Nitish Kumar Reddy, right handed bat, comes to the crease
Noor Ahmad to Heinrich Klaasen, out Stumped!! Klaasen has a word with Samson as he walks off. Not sure if something was told to him. But it was definitely not a friendly chat. Klaasen even turned around as he was walking off and had a few words. Excellent work by Samson though. Noor changes his angle - goes over the wicket and bowls the googly, Klaasen stays leg-side and looks to go inside out, the ball spins away and beats the outside-edge. Klaasen's back leg is dragged out and he tries to plant it back in, but Samson beats him to it. That was quick from Samson, almost Dhoniesque. Heinrich Klaasen st Sanju Samson b Noor Ahmad 47(26) [4s-6 6s-2]
